Balance Transfer With American Express Card Balance
First, identify a card that suits your needs. The best way to do this is to analyze your financial circumstances, and determine what your needs are. Do you need a balance transfer to consolidate existing credit card debt? Or do you need a card with an introductory APR offer on purchase? Once you determine your requirement, you can correctly choose a card that works best for you.
Not all balance transfer cards are the same. They differ in the length of the balance transfer offer, balance transfer fee and expense awards. So be sure to select a balance transfer credit card that best follows your financial situation.
If you are stuck with which card to choose, American Express provides a prequalification tool. This can help narrow down your choice by showing which card you prequalify, but know that even if you prequalify, you are not 100% guaranteed approval.
Once you choose the right card for you, apply for the card. Once approved, you can proceed with processing the balance transfer with Amex.
Log in to your account at Americanexpress.com.
Click on "Account Services".
Click on "Payment and Credit Options".
Click "Transfer Balance".
Your limit will be shown below the proposal.
Select the American Express Balance Transfer Offer for which you were approved.
Input the amount you want to transfer and the credit card number you want to transfer.
Click "Next" to review.
Accept the terms and conditions.
Confirm and submit your balance transfer request.
Keep in mind that the entire remaining transfer process may take several weeks. So if your offer states that the introductory APR card is valid for the first 60 days of membership, then it is important to start the balance transfer process immediately. And continue paying on the old card until it shows a $ 0 balance.
